Jabeer Butt, Chief Executive of the Race Equality Foundation, has been appointed to the Net Zero Council by Ed Miliband, the Secretary of State for the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero. Jabeer will be supported in this work by the Everyone’s Environment programme which is led by NPC.
Jabeer hopes to bring the voice of civil society to the discussions of the Net Zero Council as it supports the Government to deliver on its mission to make Britain a Clean Energy Superpower.
At the same time, Jabeer hopes to elevate the voices of those at the sharp end of inequality and who are already experiencing the impact of the climate and nature crisis. Drawing on the deliberation groups that Everyone’s Environment ran with people from a Black, Asian and minoritised ethnic background, people with a disability, as well as young people, Jabeer hopes to share the insights on what individuals and communities are already doing and what support they need to do more.
