ALLIANCE FOR RACIAL JUSTICE STATEMENT

THE POLITICAL PARTIES MUST MAKE SURE THERE IS ZERO TOLERANCE OF RACISM IN THE UPCOMING GENERAL ELECTION

The general election has been announced for July 4th. We urge all political parties and their supporters to avoid racist and xenophobic stereotypes in their campaigning.  Political debates have to often become polarised, with politicians participating in ‘culture wars’ and promoting inhumane perceptions of migrants and minorities in order to secure political advantage.

As the Alliance for Racial Justice, our goal is to challenge institutional racism in all its forms. The election is an opportunity for the nation to reassess key policy areas, and this must remain the focus. Parties must avoid scapegoating and marginalising entire groups and communities.
