Last week, the Online Programmes team hosted our first lunch and learn webinar event, titled ‘How to successfully engage families in parenting and relationship support in an inclusive and collaborative way for best outcomes.’
We were joined by Keren Simons, the Parenting Programme Training Lead at the London Borough of Waltham Forest: one of our licenced local authorities. In the webinar, we explored:
The self-directed and group-based elements of the online programmes
Parent recruitment strategy
Collaboration between our team and Local Authorities
Outcome measurement
Parent testimonies
What has worked for Waltham Forest, and
The Local Authority Licence Model
We concluded the webinar with a Question and Answer session with participants.
The Local Authority Licence model
Our local authority licence model is an annual fee which covers all (no maximum number) referrals from any local authority services to our courses, as well as referrals from community partners, faith groups, and self-referrals from parents within the local authority.
One of the key insights from this webinar was the discovery that while local authorities may have heard of Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities (SFSC), they do not always have an understanding of what the programme actually is. The webinar therefore provided our team with a clear opportunity to demystify SFSC and explain its direct impact on the lives of facilitators and parents, while also promoting our licensing model.
The programme recognises that the communities surrounding families can at once be a source of positive and nurturing support, or of negative influence, where the roots of inter-generational racism and violence can exist. The SFSC programmes equip parents with the knowledge and skills to help their children build healthier and safer relationships with both their families and the wider community, while improving self-esteem, social skills, and self-discipline. This approach directly supports the Race Equality Foundation’s wider mission: to positively transform the lives of Black, Asian and minority ethnic families and tackle racism.
We are offering a reduced Early Bird rate for those who purchase a Local Authority License for next year before Friday 27 March 2026. In addition, we are also offering a further reduction if both the Introduction to SFSC (parent-child focused) and the Stronger Relationships (parent conflict focused) licenses are purchased together.
