Introducing new Communications and Public Affairs Manager, Lauren Golding

It sounds like a bold claim, but I genuinely believe that strategic communications is a key tool in the dismantling of racism in the UK. It is this conviction – in the power of comms to amplify the voices of minoritised ethnic communities, showcase the evidence for inclusive policies, and build momentum for lasting change – that has led me to accept the role of Communications and Public Affairs Manager at the Race Equality Foundation.

About me and my approach

My name is Lauren Golding, a Black British woman of Jamaican heritage, and I’ve spent nearly fifteen years working across strategic communications, amplifying policy impact, media and PR. In the charity and third sector, for organisations like Prostate Cancer UK, Scouts and London & Partners, I’ve focussed on building the strategic infrastructure necessary to communicate effectively with key audiences and stakeholders. My approach is all about crafting a cohesive narrative that maximises the real-life impact of an organisation’s mission on the ground.

At the Race Equality Foundation, I’ll be focussed on three key areas:

  • Authentic voices: Ensuring that community voices are authentically platformed and attributed in our policy communications.
  • Evidence-led advocacy: Clearly presenting evidence on how we can dismantle systemic and structural racism to policy leads to affect real-world change.
  • Meaningful dialogue: Creating the spaces and campaigns for minoritised ethnic communities, supporters and partners to convene and engage in meaningful, productive discussion.

The Race Equality Foundation is already doing incredible work to tackle racism in the UK and transform lives. I’ll be looking to maximise their connections, profile and influence so they can have an even greater impact and get ever closer to realising their vision: a UK society without racism.
