Staff from the Race Equality Foundation’s Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities programme are taking part in a major project with Impact on Urban Health (Guy’s and St Thomas’ Foundation), facilitated by Shift and working with staff, community leaders and parents on the ground across Lambeth & Southwark. Over the final few months of 2021, we’ll be co-leading some research to identify ways to support a stronger landscape of parenting support in Lambeth and Southwark.

This grassroots work will look at the needs, preferences and priorities of the local community (focused on who are currently least served) as well as sharing some of the needs, constraints and assets of organisations like us, who provide targeted parenting programmes and broader support.

This work will:

  • strengthen relationships between existing and emerging community actors / assets and help everyone involved understand the practical and more systemic issues that stop parents from accessing current parenting support programmes
  • identify gaps in resources, as well as feasible approaches to strengthening the landscape of support to better serve parents across Lambeth and Southwark
  • support investment decisions at Impact on Urban Health.

We’ll be sharing updates during and after the project.
