The Race Equality Foundation is pleased to announce that Tracey Bignall has been promoted to Director of Policy and Engagement.
Tracey’s tenure at the Foundation began in 1997 where she has undertaken a number of roles centred on research and practice development. Key highlights include her leadership on an independent living project tailored for Black, Asian, and ethnic minority communities. This initiative simultaneously redefined the concept of independence while providing autonomy to young people.
Throughout her journey, Tracey has recognised the importance of being flexible and meeting people where they are, whether through work on mental health, sensitive enquiries or on specific health conditions, Tracey ensures that an intersectional, culturally sensitive approach is applied throughout all her work.
In her new role, Tracey looks forward to continuing to collaborate with like-minded changemakers and leveraging her expertise to drive tangible change. Her focus remains on addressing health issues such as maternal health and wider health inequalities and recognising their profound impact on everyday life.
Tracey’s promotion not only signifies a career milestone but also represents an opportunity to influence policy discourse on a broader scale.
In her own words:
“I am really pleased with my new role and the recognition of my skills and knowledge. I‘m looking forward to contributing to more changes that helps to address the inequalities that Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities face.”
From Jabeer Butt, our CEO:
“This is an incredibly well deserved promotion. From her ground-breaking research on the experience of young people with disabilities from Black, Asian and minoritised ethnic communities to ensuring that the voices of new mothers are heard in the development of better maternity care, Tracey has consistently contributed to change. And long may it continue.”
