SUMMARY:London Anti-Racism Collaboration for Health - Hearing Community Voices: Effective Engagement to Reduce Health Inequality
DESCRIPTION:Hearing Community Voices: Effective Engagement to Reduce Health Inequality\nListening to the voices of those for whom services are designed and delivered is not just good practice—it’s essential. True progress requires meaningful engagement with service users\, placing co-production approaches at the forefront. This event will equip organisations to move beyond the barriers of engagement\, offering actionable solutions for effectively involving Black\, Asian\, and minoritised ethnic communities in the fight against health inequalities. \nWho is this event for?\nThis event is for London based organisations working across health and care\, including NHS trusts\, CCGs\, ICSs\, local authorities\, adult social care providers\, public health teams\, community services\, charities\, and voluntary groups. Whether you work in service design\, delivery\, or policy\, it offers practical strategies to enhance co-production and ensure services meet the needs of Black\, Asian\, and minoritised ethnic communities. \nWhat is LARCH?\nThe London Anti-Racism Collaboration for Health (LARCH) is a programme of activities to help the health and care sector embed an anti-racist approach to take action to address the inequalities in health that Black\, Asian and minoritised ethnic Londoners experience. \nLearn more about the LARCH here: https://anti-racism.london/\nThis event is the third in a series of events to provide the opportunity for organisations in health and care to explore evidence\, share learning\, and practice to address health inequalities. Through these events\, we aim to foster a network of engaged organisations and individuals and facilitate the collective commitment to embedding anti-racist practices. \nThis is an online event and details to access the event will be shared in advance.

SUMMARY:NHS ConfedExpo 2025: Tackling the health inequalities of minoritised ethnic people with a learning disability
DESCRIPTION:Black\, Asian\, and minoritised ethnic people with a learning disability are dying younger than their white counterparts\, and discrimination and poor healthcare access are part of the reason. ‘We Deserve Better’ (Race Health Observatory\, 2023) found that low take-up of Annual Health Checks (AHCs) is a key factor behind these shocking inequalities. \nJoin us for an interactive session where lived experience meets practical action: \n\nSam Clark will facilitate a powerful conversation with Nicholas Garvey and Ramandeep Kaur\, sharing first-hand barriers to healthcare. \nHabib Naqvi will present the wider evidence on disparities\, linking stories to data. \nJahan Foster Zabit will lead a co-production workshop\, exploring real-world solutions. \nWe’ll close with a collaborative commitment pledge\, inviting everyone to act. \n\nWhy attend? \n\nRecognise the life-saving impact of Annual Health Checks (AHCs) – Understand how AHCs help detect health issues early\, improve outcomes\, and reduce premature deaths among Black\, Asian\, and minoritised ethnic people with a learning disability.\nLearn practical\, evidence-based strategies –  Explore targeted outreach methods\, culturally appropriate communication tools\, and reasonable adjustments that can boost AHC uptake and engagement.\nExamine successful case studies – Hear about innovative local projects (e.g.\, Nottingham\, Grace Eyre\, Gateshead) that have improved AHC attendance and reduced health inequalities and take ideas you can apply in your own practice.\n\nWho is this for? \nHealth and care professionals\, commissioners\, policymakers\, and community leaders working to tackle health inequalities\, particularly those involved in learning disability care\, racial equity\, and Core20PLUS5 initiatives. \nBe part of the change. \nThis session offers more than insight\, it’s a call to action. Join us to deepen your understanding\, hear powerful lived experiences\, and leave with practical steps to tackle inequalities in your work and community.

SUMMARY:Developing anti-racist Good Home Hubs: from access to outcomes
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the launch of our new research to uncover fresh insights into how home improvement services can become more accessible\, fair\, and effective for racially marginalised communities — and explore the practical steps we can all take to turn evidence into action. \nPeople from racially marginalised backgrounds are more likely to live in a poor-quality home and less likely to be able to access home improvement support. That is why the Centre for Ageing Better launched a research project with the Race Equality Foundation earlier this year to ensure that support for home improvement was made inclusive and anti-racist. \nGrounded in an extensive literature and the experiences of older racially marginalised communities across the country\, the research provides key insights and recommendations for meaningful change. \nIn this focused one-hour session\, we’ll walk you through the evidence and solutions uncovered in our research.  \n\n\n\n\nSpeakers\n\n\n\nMillie Brown\, Deputy Director of Homes\, Centre for Ageing Better\nNazia Azad\, Programme Manager\, Centre for Ageing Better\nJabeer Butt OBE\, Chief Executive\, Race Equality Foundation\nDr Jahan Foster Zabit\, Head of Research\, Race Equality Foundation\n\n\n\n\n\nThis webinar is designed for\n\n\n\nNational and local policymakers\nLocal implementers including commissioners\, care boards\, Local Government Association and Combined Authorities\nAcademics and researchers\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister now
