SUMMARY:Confronting Racism in Health and Care: Lessons from the Racist Riots
DESCRIPTION:The Race Equality Foundation\, with a coalition of partners including the Muslim Charities Forum are hosting ‘Confronting Racism in Health and Care: Lessons from the Racist Riots’. The third session in the four-part series ‘Responding to the Racist Riots.’ \nFour months after the racist riots that took place this August\, this webinar series is an opportunity for key stakeholders to collaborate\, reflect on the causes of the riots and build lasting solutions that prevent racist violence. \nThis third webinar examines the targeted violence faced by health and care workers. These workers were on the frontline treating patients during the riots\, subjected to racialised hate speech and attacks – yet\, little attention has been paid to the impacts on them. This session explores the enduring issues of institutional racism\, the need for enhanced worker’s support for minoritised ethnic staff\, and welcomes insights from industry professionals and trade unions on the best strategies implement anti-racist safeguards in the sector. \nThis session will be led by and involve speakers from across health\, care and trade unions\, as well as\, within the voluntary sector. \nBe part of a thought-provoking exchange between key stakeholders\, health and care professionals and panellists\, who bring forward a range of perspectives and insights on these issues.
