Breast cancer screening focus group
Breast cancer is known to be one of the most common cancers in the UK. One
in eight UK women are diagnosed with breast cancer. Survival rates are
improving and are best if breast cancer is diagnosed early. We know that
women over 50 are more likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer and that is
why all women over 50 are sent a breast screening appointment. However,
there is evidence that some women do not take up this appointment and we
are running a number of focus groups to understand what could be done to
ensure all women are able to access breast cancer screening.
We are looking for women who are aged between 45 and 70. We want both
women who have attended a breast screening appointment and women who
may have not attended. Our focus group is looking for women of Caribbean,
African, Asian or other ethnic minority origin.
We will make an audio recording of the focus group to use in producing a
report. However we will ensure confidentiality by not using anyone’s name or
other information that may identify them.
The focus group will be on: 22nd January 2020.
