Conclusions by the Independent Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities undermined the role of racism in 21st century Britain, against the weight of evidence and lived experience.

The articles in this edition of IPPR Progressive Review, guest edited by Race on the Agenda and Jabeer Butt our CE, give an alternative account of racial disparities. Taken as a whole, this issue constitutes a wide-ranging review of how structural and institutional racism still affects and defines people lives across the UK. It anchored not only in the belief that racial justice is needed, but the belief that with transformative ideas and radical imagination, racial justice is possible.

As well as guest editing Jabeer Butt also co-authored many of the articles.
