This study examines black and minority ethnic-led organisations’ and social care agencies’ perceptions of the future of social care in black and minority ethnic communities. Based on a survey to examine the impact of changes in social care (such as Direct Payments) on black and minority ethnic communities, the study also considers the ability of service providers to respond to the needs of these communities. It considers issues in social care including:

  • legislation and regulation
  • mainstream provision
  • user participation
  • the role of voluntary organisations as social care providers.
